Donald Trump made a campaign stop at Lenoir Rhyne University - a Lutheran school in Hickory, NC, the town where I served before. Before he arrived, due to how other rallies had erupted in violence, there was much concern about what would be the nature of this visit. Area pastors, the NC Bishop, and many others decided to do what they could to keep down any potential violence.
It turned out well. And here is a link to a blog from a pastor now serving in NC that tells the story from his perspective: Peacemaking. I must say I’m very proud of my colleagues from NC.
And...I’m excited that family is visiting. It’s always good - and fun!
