A phone call from a friend and colleague reinforced what I said yesterday about many who are hurting and ready to quit. Certainly "clergy" is not the only profession that COVID has pushed to the edge. However, when someone says there is so much stress in their call that their health is being jeopardized, that gets your attention. But what can I do? Not much except listen, and pray, pray, pray.
Almighty God, strengthen your pastors. Support, encourage and protect them. Give them hope and help in the midst of things they cannot control or change. And grant understanding and compassion from those they serve. Amen.
