Day #2635

March 19, 2021

On the heels of St. Patrick’s Day is the lesser known, or celebrated in America, holiday - St. Joseph’s Day. A little research declares this day is commemorated, especially in Italy, for the husband of Mary, mother of Jesus. It seems that during the Middle Ages, crops were failing and people were starving in the severe drought. People prayed to St. Joseph to help them by sending rain. When the rain came and crops were able to be planted, the people kept their promise of appreciation by declaring St. Joseph’s Day on March 19. Now a feast is prepared annually in celebration (information courtesy of "Italy Guides" website).

Hmmm…St. Joseph’s Day, patron saint of workers. Something to remember (and there are no snakes - haha)

Blessings. And prayers.
