Day #2440

September 5, 2020

This Satisfied Saturday I am thankful for wisdom. I have been behind in reading our synod’s newsletter and today I read words from the bishop that are an example of being wise. She began the article with “just breathe,” as in take a deep breath and relax. Then she talked about ‘just jump,” using an example from her childhood when other kids goaded her into jumping off the high dive. Sometimes, she writes, “jumping” to stop the taunting voices is not the best idea. Then she included an event from scripture. It was when Jesus was in the wilderness and the devil tempted him to jump from the pinnacle of the temple. You won’t be harmed, was the “promise.” But Jesus replied, “Do not put your Lord to the test.” Wise words!

Sometimes it is very difficult to know which voice to listen to when a decision needs to be made. Wisdom is critical, and something for which to be grateful. Especially when it comes as a reminder from someone you trust!

Blessings. And prayers.
