Even after taking multiple semesters of Spanish in High School, I did not know until I was watching Jeopardy tonight that adios, which is the Spanish word for goodbye or farewell, “derives from a term meaning “may (you) be (commended) to God.”” I think this is very cool! And it gives new nuance to a familiar word. Adios, everyone!
